Rail Signalling Engineer

With their Brisbane operations expanding an opportunity has come for an experienced Rail Signalling Engineer that is ready to take on an exciting challenge.

As a Principal Rail Signalling Engineer, you will be responsible but not limited to:

– Preparation of detailed Signalling design plans.

– Design Signalling Circuits in accordance with current and client signalling practice.

– Preparation of Processor Based Interlocking application data reflecting current and client signalling

– Design of Signalling Control Tables.

– Checking of relay-based signalling design circuits; processor-based signalling design data and Control Tables.

To be considered for this position you will ideally have:

– Preference for RPEQ Accreditation or able to obtain RPEQ status.

– Hold an appropriate tertiary/discipline qualification.

– A broad range of signalling technical skills in the field of rail engineering consultancy.

– A proven track record working across multidisciplinary rail projects, across the project life-cycle.

– Expertise in stakeholder consultation and management.

– Minimum of 5+ years signalling experience.

Design Manager – Rail

Design Manager required by one of the worlds leading consultancies to work on a large portfolio of railway works in Sydney. Including newly secured light rail and metro design packages.

You will use your experience in the rail sector to bring together all of the design components whilst being a key point of contact with the client. As well as this, you will show strong management skills gained in a design and construct, or consultancy environment.

Duties include:

– Manage and coordinate multi-disciplinary design teams
– Close liaison with client and stakeholders
– Draft and manage the production of reports and tender documents
– Monitor cost and schedule
– Manage the Health and Safety and Quality Assurance aspects of projects

We are looking for someone who is confident in contributing to a technical team and as a key member of a project team, liaising directly with the client, project sponsors and key stakeholders

Requirements:

– Tertiary qualified Engineer / Manager
– Proven background in the Australian market
– Multi-disciplinary rail Design Management experience

Primary Duties:

– Assemble and wire electrical switchboards, which involves low and extra low voltage circuitry such as PLC modules, relays, converters, transformer, circuit breakers, video and audio breakers

– Experience working withg PVC and Metal conduit as well as electrical ducting and trys

– Would be able to work in confirmed space and heights

– Must be able to read and interpret electrical wiring diagram

– Work with minimal supervision

– Able to work with commisioning and maintenance team if required

Essential Criteria:

– NSW Electrical License

– EWP ticket

– Minimum 5 years PLC experience

– Hydraulic Experience Highly advantegeous

– Good written and verbal communication skills

– Valid work rights in Australia

– Construction Industry White card

– The ability to pass a functional assessment including drug and alcohol screen

The Opportunity

With a wide variety of freight, passenger and metro rail packages underway, the talented rail team are searching for motivated Intermediate, Senior and Principal level engineers to support/lead the design of NSW’s future rail network. All positions are permanent roles based in the Sydney office.

Each role offers a unique balance of site supervision, design work and client engagement to support your professional development in a supportive environment. The variety of scope crosses the entire industry from rail infrastructure, track, station and depot design. You will also collaborate with multi-discipline rail teams interstate and internationally.

Key Responsibilities of the Role

– Support/lead multi-discipline teams of designers and technicians to deliver high profile rail projects

– Ensure accuracy of design drawings and calculations

– Interface with key stakeholders through design and provide expert technical advice to your team

– Utilise and apply existing knowledge of relevant codes and standards

– Collaborate with staff to deliver projects within time and budget constraints

– Contribute to or author engineering reports

– Work collaboratively with rail design and project teams

Key Skills and Characteristics

– BEng or BSc – Civil/Structural Engineering

– Previous experience in a consulting environment

– Demonstrated experience on major rail infrastructure

– Brownfield and greenfield rail corridor experience will be highly regarded

– Team oriented and willing to champion a collaborative approach to engineering processes

– A proactive and problem solving attitude
