Senior Business Intelligence / Data Analyst, Corporate Strategy – Retail Energy

Due to ongoing strategic growth, we are seeking an experienced Analyst with strong SQL skill to join the Corporate Strategy team for Retail Energy.

* Proven experience in energy retailing is a must for this role. *

As part of the Corporate Strategy team for Retail Energy, you will provide timely analytical support to the team through undertaking:

Data Validation and Reconciliation

– Build data validation and reconciliation model to ensure correct data is used for Accruals, Month-end and regulatory reporting
– Analyse data anomalies and work with business stakeholders to resolve issues

Execution and Improvements of Revenue and Network Cost Accruals Model, Month-End Reporting and Regulatory Environmental Reporting

– Prepare revenue and network cost accruals on a monthly basis to satisfy the reporting requirements of Energy Market Finance
– Work closely with Environmental Reporting and Finance team to ensure their data needs are met

Improve model design to ensure data produced is complete, accurate and reliable

– Ensure relevant processes are adequately documented for audit and compliance
– Assist in Data Systems and Warehouse development
– Understand flows of information across the business and drive enhancements to systems
– Gather data requirements and work closely with developers to implement them
– Assist in the identification and development of new data sources
– Assist in User Acceptance Testing

To fulfil the key responsibilities and business objectives of this role, you will come from a strong analytical based role in a commercial environment in addition to the following experience and qualifications:

– Experience in the utilities industry with an understanding of customer billing and/or network costs
– Ideally, at least 3 years experience working in financial data analysis
– Undergraduate degree in business, finance, computer science or other relevant tertiary qualification;
– Track and report data mart volumes and values
– Strong understanding of core software packages to perform data analysis, including SQL, SAS, Excel and Access
– Development and continuous enhancement of data variables

We have a 12-month contract for a Business Intelligence Reporting Analyst Specialist to join a large telco initiative here in Melbourne.

– 12-month contract, work towards Christmas!
– Fantastic Melbourne CBD location, close to large transport hub!
– Must have: SQL, T-SQL (stored procedure coding) and SSIS to be considered!

This role will have you operating in two capacities. One, facilitate workshops and gather information (typically user stories) for their key HR program. Here, you will represent the head of the program and provide counsel on appropriate strategy and implementations. Second, work with the program’s technical resources to develop a better representation of this organisation’s data analytics.

To be considered, you will have the following:

– Proven experience working in an operational environment with large volume of data and able to merge datasets from various data sources
– Proven experience in SQL, T-SQL (stored procedure coding) and SSIS
– Proven experience supporting significant change initiatives in a large complex organisation/department, through the creation of reports based on trends, analyse data, present data to team
– Have had exposure to database design, security and authorisation knowledge

Deputy Secretary Signals Intelligence and Network Operations

The Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) is seeking a highly motivated, outcome driven senior executive to fill the newly created position of Deputy Secretary Signals Intelligence and Network Operations, based in Canberra ACT. This position will become Deputy Director-General Signals Intelligence and Network Operations when the Directorate becomes a statutory authority in 2018. The Deputy Secretary will report directly to the Director (Director-General) and will be responsible for signals intelligence collection, analysis and production, and ASD’s network based access and effects operations. This role will lead the new group through a far-reaching transformation and evolution of ASD over the next three years while continuing to deliver on the operational requirements of the position. The Deputy Secretary will be involved in the Directorate’s transition to a statutory agency in the Defence portfolio. The anticipated initial structure for the Signals Intelligence and Network Operations Group will include the Intelligence and Network Operations and Access Divisions. The successful applicant will have a demonstrated ability to deliver organisational outcomes across signals intelligence, network operations and access, and engage with high order operational risks. The Deputy Secretary will also be the Government’s authority on signals intelligence and network operations with the responsibility to act on highly sensitive, time critical and complex matters with whole of Government significance. Business Intelligence Developer

The Business Intelligence Developer / Report writer is responsible for providing support to the BI department in relation to the design, build, and enhancement of new and existing data warehouse applications. This technical based role will require ongoing use of SQL database and OLAP technologies to support the design, build, and enhancement of reports and dashboard using BI visualisation tools.

Role and responsibilities:

1) Support the Business Analyst and the Senior BI Developer to define requirements and estimate time to delivery for complex reports. They will also work with the business to discuss non-complex reporting and BI requirements.

– Document requirements, specifications and proposed solutions
– Write requirements specifications according to standard templates, using natural language simply, clearly, unambiguously, and concisely.

2) Support the Senior BI Developer to design, build, test, and enhance new and existing data warehouse applications based on SQL database and OLAP technologies

– Assist the Senior BI Developer to scope, design, develop and test BI development as required by the business
– Build and administrate reports and dashboards
– Ensure security is enabled to lock down access to information only for specified business users
– Escalate and work with external vendors for complex requirements in consultation with the Senior BI Developer
– Conduct/Lead functional/technical testing within BI applications as directed
– Complete QA defect and tracking for all BI issues

3) Support the BI Department in the design, development, testing and support of complex operational and analytical reports and dashboards

– Understand business requirements and design user-friendly reports and dashboards
– Create reports, graphs and dashboards using the BI visualisation Tools
– Develop an in-depth understanding of underlying data, data structures, and business uses to ensure reports and dashboards meet business needs

4) Provide BI Technical/Development Support

– Provide 2nd / 3rd level system support where required
– Support the Senior BI Developer to assist the service desk by providing technical documentation for workarounds, permanent solutions and internally developed solutions to issues in relation to BI applications
– Assist the IT team where required in the creation of user manual and documentation within the technical capabilities of the BI solution

– Extensive experience in development of reports using Microsoft SSRS and BI visualisation tools
– Experience in the development of Business Intelligence& Reports using the Microsoft BI stack (MSSQL, SSRS, SSIS, SSAS)
– Intermediate understanding of multidimensional data stores in OLAP cubes
– Intermediate understanding of ETL processes
– Basic understanding of MDX queries
– Strong Co-ordination Skill
– High level communication Skills
