The role sits within a team that very much encompasses a start-up culture within a very well established and successful business; with this, you will find a role and environment that is innovative, entrepreneurial and creative however given its relative infancy as a business you will also need to be willing to assume a number of different roles; you will need to be comfortable with hands on data analysis and reporting as well as the more complex analysis associated with the role.

We are looking at individuals who can demonstrate the following skills and experience

– Proven analytics experience is essential, ideally within a customer or strategy analytics

– A commercial mindset and approach to data solutions with proven ability in understand the impact your analysis has on business outcomes

– An entrepreneurial and innovative approach with an ability to think outside of the box and challenge assumptions

– Strong stakeholder management skills with an ability to articulate insights to influence commercial outcomes

– Financial Services and/or Consultancy experience preferred however not essential

– Technical skills in SQL skills are essential; experience of additional programming languages advantageous

– Tertiary qualified in a quantitative discipline

Senior Business Intelligence / Data Analyst, Corporate Strategy – Retail Energy

D’Arcy Weil is proud to be working with Australasia’s leading Gas & Electricity company procuring and providing electricity, LPG, natural gas and appliances to Australian homes and businesses.

Due to ongoing strategic growth, we are seeking an experienced Analyst with strong SQL skill to join the Corporate Strategy team for Retail Energy.

* Proven experience in energy retailing is a must for this role. *

As part of the Corporate Strategy team for Retail Energy, you will provide timely analytical support to the team through undertaking:

Data Validation and Reconciliation

– Build data validation and reconciliation model to ensure correct data is used for Accruals, Month-end and regulatory reporting
– Analyse data anomalies and work with business stakeholders to resolve issues

Execution and Improvements of Revenue and Network Cost Accruals Model, Month-End Reporting and Regulatory Environmental Reporting

– Prepare revenue and network cost accruals on a monthly basis to satisfy the reporting requirements of Energy Market Finance
– Work closely with Environmental Reporting and Finance team to ensure their data needs are met

Improve model design to ensure data produced is complete, accurate and reliable

– Ensure relevant processes are adequately documented for audit and compliance
– Assist in Data Systems and Warehouse development
– Understand flows of information across the business and drive enhancements to systems
– Gather data requirements and work closely with developers to implement them
– Assist in the identification and development of new data sources
– Assist in User Acceptance Testing

To fulfil the key responsibilities and business objectives of this role, you will come from a strong analytical based role in a commercial environment in addition to the following experience and qualifications:

– Experience in the utilities industry with an understanding of customer billing and/or network costs
– Ideally, at least 3 years experience working in financial data analysis
– Undergraduate degree in business, finance, computer science or other relevant tertiary qualification;
– Track and report data mart volumes and values
– Strong understanding of core software packages to perform data analysis, including SQL, SAS, Excel and Access
– Development and continuous enhancement of data variables

About the role

We are looking for a Specialist, Asset Strategy & Risk to be responsible for developing strategy and providing advice for the efficient and effective delivery of asset management systems and risk assessment methodologies and processes to achieve required business outcomes . Based in our Leederville office, this role is reporting to the Manager – Asset Management System & Risk.

What the role will offer

Contribute to the development and implementation of the overall asset investment decision framework to achieve an effective balance between cost, risk and level of service to customers

Develop and implement governance processes and frameworks for asset management, information and regulatory compliance processes

Undertake business environment scanning and lead analysis to provide supporting information for the production of strategic asset management documents and regulatory strategies

Support the delivery of strategic projects and production of information required for key stakeholder management

Report on outcomes of audits/reviews and the implementation of asset management system and regulatory improvement activities

Key skills and experience

Degree level qualified in an Engineering, Science or Economics discipline

Considerable experience in asset risk methodologies, processes and assessment

Considerable experience in asset management systems, information management or strategy role with a working knowledge of ISO5500

Considerable knowledge and understanding of the design, development and implementation of strategy initiatives

Experience in planning and progressing work activities within general guidelines, using initiative and judgement to deliver outcomes
